I haven’t reviewed any of the attractions for a while, but of course living in the Algarve with two children, I am always visiting different water parks and trying new activities, so following a recent trip I decided to do a quick review of Aquashow water park to share with you.
For families who are looking for water park with extra thrills, then the Aquashow water park in Quarteria in the Faro region is definitely the place to go. As one of the largest water park in the Algarve, Aquashow is jam packed with water slides of all shapes and sizes – high, low, long, short, fast, meandering, open, tunnels, the list goes on. In order to maintain its status as the ‘most complete’ park in the Algarve, every year Aquashow Park opens at least one new attraction. The past two years have seen the introduction of the FreeFall slides, the Twin Space Shuttle and the Pink and Shark Slide. In 2016 a new Aquakids area was added, with slides and tunnels which strengthens the range of activities for under 10s.
This year has been no different and the newly opened River Slide is a fantastic family friendly addition to the water slides.
While good for young children, this water park probably comes into its own for adult groups, or when you have children over 1.2m tall, as most of the bigger rides have this as their minimum height restriction. For safety purposes, staff are quite strict, so if you children don’t meet the minimum height, they won’t be allowed on, regardless of how well they swim.
Aquashow tickets may be a few euros more than some other attractions, but this really is a full day of slipping and sliding and you’ll be amazed at how long you can spend there so its great value. Food and drink outlets are plentiful, or you can bring your own picnic, find a nice spot to sit down and relax.
If you tire of the water slides (highly unlikely) there are some dry rides to enjoy and a number of animal shows running throughout the day, which are great way to have some down-time before attacking the next big ride.
My top tips include bringing plenty of water, sunhats and lots of suncream. In peak season queues can be long, but they tend to move quickly, so don’t be put off.
