Faro’s City Council takes 86 people to Zoomarine

Faro sent 86 elderly people from various institutions throughout the county to Zoomarine. The initiative was part of commemorations for the International Day for Older Persons.

Faro’s Council took 86 elderly people from the Algarve to the theme park Zoomarine, in Albufeira, on the 2nd of October.

This initiative of the Department of Social Development and Education, which was part of the celebrations of the International Day for Older Persons (celebrated on October 1st), had the support of  “a significant group of institutions that perform meritorious social work in our county”, said a representative of Faro’s City Council. The institutions involved in the campaign that took 86 senior citizens to Zoomarine were: Espaço Saúde em Diálogo, Provectus, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Faro, ARPI, ASS-C Montenegro, Associação Vidas, Centros Culturais e Sociais de Estoi e Santa Bárbara de Nexe e Associação de Solidariedade Social dos Professores.

The initiative, as explained by the local county, aimed to promote “active aging” and “the process of education and development between generations.”
