The special glow that the city of Faro acquires early in the morning lingers long after sunset. The truth is that the cosmopolitan and vibrant city of Faro offers plenty of fun activities that will surely entertain you. See below our suggestions for things to do at night in Faro.

Strolling around Faro Marina

The beautiful Faro Marina is a great place for an evening stroll. Full of restaurants, cafes, bars, ice-cream parlours, a children’s playground and, during the summer, concerts and dance shows, Faro Marina is a great place to relax after a busy day. The quietness of its waters and the peacefulness that emanates make it an equally recommended place for couples looking for a romantic stroll.

Go-Karting

In the neighbouring city of Olhão you can enjoy some high speed fun with friends or family at the Algarve Indoor Karting Centre. As this is an indoor karting track you don’t need to worry about losing the daylight as you can normally continue to race until 23:00.

The track is the largest indoor track in Portugal, and one of the largest in Europe, so you can be sure of a great evening. It’s worth buying your tickets for karting in Olhão as you can save 10% from Algarve Fun.

Strolling around Downtown Faro

Like Faro Marina, Faro’s Downtown area is one of the best places to find a good atmosphere in the evening. The beautiful streets of Santo António and Rua do Crime (among others) adorned with the typical Portuguese sidewalk are an integral part of the city’s history. With several shops with regional products, cafes, bars, restaurants and with a contagious enthusiasm, Faro’s downtown is definitely the right place for those looking for the best nightlife in the Algarve’s capital.

Sunset at the Ria Formosa

The Ria Formosa Natural Park is an amazing sight at any time of the day and the sunsets are not too be missed in the huge region of lagoons, inlets and islands. The best way to enjoy this is with a Ria Formosa sunset cruise that before sunset will enable you to see some of the birdlife this area is famous for, have an uninterrupted view of the natural landscape during the sunset, and enjoy some music and a glass of wine afterwards. /?p=18450

Bars and discos in downtown Faro

Although not known as such, Faro is actually a great city for people wanting to go out at night. Beginning with the prestigious Columbus Cocktail & Wine Bar, awarded the Best Bar Team and Best Bar Menu, and finishing off with clubs such as the First Floor, Twice or the Prestige Dance Club, Faro has a wide range of bars and nightclubs.

Walking around the Old Town

The charming Old Town, with its 9th century walls, dazzles us with its delicious cobble streets and typical whitewashed houses. There are several bars, cafes and restaurants in the Old Town, some of which boast superb views over the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve. However, we also advise you to stroll through the deserted streets of the oldest part of Faro, where the smells and the sea breezes have the magic ability to make you forget about your problems.

Forum Algarve

The Forum Algarve shopping centre is a great place to unwind after a day spent sunbathing on the beach. The fun and laid-back environment that emanates, with its cafes, shops and restaurants, will surely leave you with a smile on your lips.

Cinema

A good option for those looking for a quiet night is to enjoy the best movies of the moment on the big screen. You can do it in the cinemas at Forum Algarve and MAR Shopping Algarve. Apart from for children’s cartoons, most movies are shown in their original English language with Portuguese sub-titles so don’t worry if you don’t speak Portuguese you’ll still be able to enjoy all of the latest blockbusters.

Bars and cafes at Faro Island

Many people enjoy sitting in a bar or cafe at Faro Island, next to Faro Beach. This is the perfect place to enjoy a beer with friends while admiring the stillness of the sea or the estuary of Ria Formosa Natural Reserve. Located just a few minutes’ drive from the city centre, Faro Island is a true wonder for those looking to enjoy a night away from civilization.
